For more than two decades, Sugar Land Art Center & Gallery has served as Fort Bend County’s gathering place for working artists, curious beginners, and families who believe art belongs in everyday life. We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization built on a straightforward conviction: creative opportunity should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age, background, or experience level. From our facility on Industrial Boulevard, we provide the studios, classrooms, gallery walls, and community that artists across the Greater Houston area need in order to grow.

Our mission is to provide an inspiring environment for the creative individual — including children and senior citizens — through art lessons, art education, working studio space, a public gallery, and genuine fellowship. Every program we run points toward one larger goal: promoting an improved society through art awareness.
That mission shapes practical decisions every single day. Gallery admission is free and open to the public. Instruction is delivered in a deliberately non-competitive format, so a first-time painter and a thirty-year professional can share the same classroom without intimidation. Tuition is kept low by design, and scholarship support is available for families who need it. As a nonprofit art center, we measure our success in participation rather than profit.
Inside Our Sugar Land Art Facility
Our Industrial Boulevard location was designed around the working needs of practicing artists rather than retail foot traffic. The building houses twenty-seven private artist studios and four dedicated classrooms, supporting a rotating schedule of instruction, exhibitions, and independent creative work throughout the year.
- 27 Private Artist Studios: Secure, individually rented workspaces for painters, sculptors, jewelers, and photographers who need a dedicated place to build a serious body of work.
- Four Fully Equipped Classrooms: Flexible teaching spaces hosting everything from beginner watercolor sessions to advanced pottery workshops and visiting-artist masterclasses.
- A Free Public Fine Art Gallery: Rotating exhibitions of original paintings, sculpture, photography, and handcrafted jewelry produced by professional artists from across the region.
- Live Model & Life Drawing Sessions: Regularly scheduled figure-drawing opportunities that are genuinely difficult to find anywhere else in Fort Bend County.
Art & Music Classes for Children, Teens, Adults, and Seniors
Education sits at the center of everything our organization does. We offer year-round art and music instruction for every age group and every skill level, taught by professional working artists who understand that confidence matters every bit as much as technique. Adults arrive to finally learn the medium they have been curious about for years. Teens build portfolios for college applications. Senior citizens discover that it is never too late to begin.
Our Kids Art Camp program serves more than 500 students each year, offering low-cost tuition and scholarship support so that price never becomes the reason a child misses out on the fine arts. Camp sessions concentrate on painting, sketching, and sculpture, taught in an encouraging, hands-on environment where experimentation is the point.
A Community of Working Local Artists
The artists who rent studios here are not hobbyists passing through. They are professional painters, potters, photographers, and jewelers who teach our classes, exhibit in our gallery, and mentor the students who walk through our doors. That density of working talent under a single roof is what separates a genuine art center from a rental facility.
For visitors, it means the work hanging on our walls comes with a person attached — someone you can meet, ask questions of, and commission directly. For artists, it means joining a peer group that critiques honestly, shares opportunities, and shows up for one another’s openings. Studio availability changes throughout the year, so we encourage interested artists to call ahead and arrange a tour.
Leadership and Community Partnership
The Art Center is guided by Executive Director Stevan F. Williamson, with Director Cindy Howard supporting daily operations, class scheduling, and artist services. Both are directly accessible to visitors, prospective students, and artists interested in studio space. This is not an organization where you have to work through layers of staff to reach a decision-maker.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, our continued growth depends on the generosity of local patrons, corporate sponsors, and civic partners throughout Fort Bend County. Contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law, and every dollar goes directly into maintaining our facilities, upgrading classroom equipment, and keeping registration affordable for area families.

Our fine art gallery is free and open to the public Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at 104 Industrial Boulevard, Suite Q, in Sugar Land.
